The results don’t determine if something is worth doing.
That is the advice I gave a friend today. It was something they needed to hear because they were letting their own insecurities dictate how they felt. It was what they needed to hear to stop second guessing themselves. I hope it helped them with the fear or failure, the worry that something you put effort into is pointless. We are all in that place occasionally and often time it can only be those that care for us that can help us out of that mental trap.
But here is the thing. I needed to hear that today too. I woke up today doubting my spiritual path. I wondered “what is the point of it?”. I worried “Am I wasting my time in this spiritual pursuit?”. I was afraid that “none of this is real, you are just making it up.”. I did my daily Tarot pulls and one of the cards that jumped out at me today was the 8 of Swords. If you know you know. It made me angry. I wanted the spirits to give me some wisdom and the answer they gave amounted to “sometimes it do be that way though.”
I’ll be honest I was a little hopeless over it. To spend a decade deconstructing from Christianity and finding a new spiritual path and commit to it. Then to have a day when it all feels like a wasted endeavor. That is the weight everyone has to carry if they walk a religious or spiritual path.
But then I was talking with my friend and they expressed nervousness regarding something they have going on tonight. They don’t know how something is going to turn out and they don’t know how to feel about it. But it is something they feel passionate about, something that excites them. Whether or not it is a “success” is secondary to the fact it is something they want to do.
This is why Solace and I created the Wayfarer’s Hearth and I need it today. I am spiritually tired and I need to rest. I must focus on the fact that I cannot ever know if something is “real” or not when it comes to spiritual pursuits. Because the results don’t determine whether or not something is worth pursuing.
So rest when you need to, walk the path when you can, and know that you will always have a place to find support here at the Wayfarer’s Heath. If you want some Sage wisdom email me a question and I will see what I answer. Likely the wisdom you need is wisdom I am desperate to have as well. We can learn together and support each other.
Walk well my friends. So mote it be.
